Seeing Machines Ltd (AIM:SEE, OTC:SEEMF) has begun a six-week trial of its latest driver safety system with a North American division of Mitsubishi Electric, in a move that could help broaden its reach in the transport technology market.
The trial involves Guardian Generation 3, the latest version of Seeing Machines’ aftermarket monitoring platform, which uses artificial intelligence to track driver attention and prevent accidents.
The pilot, which launched this week, follows a commercial agreement signed in February with Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America.
That deal allows Mitsubishi to refer potential customers to Seeing Machines, using its network of industry contacts across the Americas.
According to the company, this collaboration is already producing a steady flow of commercial leads, with the current pilot marking the first formal engagement to come out of the partnership.
CEO Paul McGlone said: "The launch of this pilot, which comes not long after the start of our collaboration, reconfirms our joint conviction and opens a promising path to Aftermarket sales and overall success in the Americas.
"Our experienced team are working closely with the team at MEAA to leverage relationships alongside telematics and safety system expertise to make things happen fast.
"It's a positive sign to have a Mitsubishi Electric Corporation company engaging with Guardian Generation 3 through a trial, and we're optimistic about where this could lead."
Seeing Machines, which is listed on London's AIM market, develops computer vision technology for use in vehicles, including systems that detect signs of fatigue or distraction.
Its clients span the automotive, aviation and commercial transport sectors, as demand grows for real-time safety solutions.
