Neometals' approach to sustainable battery recycling and royalties - One2One Investor Forum

Published: 11:42 28 Oct 2024 GMT

Neometals Ltd (ASX:NMT, OTC:NMTAY, AIM:NMT) Managing Director/CEO Christopher Reed talked with Proactive about the company’s strategic advancements in battery recycling, lithium extraction, and their focus on sustainable resource management at the One2One Investor Forum.

Reed shared how Neometals is developing patented processes to support global demand for recyclable heavy metals, including lithium and vanadium, with a focus on building sustainable and efficient plants for customers rather than operating them directly. “Our goal,” Reed stated, “is to empower our clients to close the loop on battery materials, allowing them to recycle and retain the raw materials in-house.”

Neometals is at the forefront of battery recycling in Europe, having launched a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery recycling plant for Mercedes-Benz. Supported by the European Union and designed in collaboration with a German engineering partner, this plant is an example of Neometals' commitment to creating value in recycling for large-scale automotive and manufacturing clients.

The CEO highlighted the company's distinct revenue model that includes selling plants to customers, and securing royalties on recycled materials—a model that not only reduces environmental impact but also generates consistent income.
